A Mother-Daughter Evening in the Flower Patch

A Mother-Daughter Evening in the Flower Patch

Moms do so much for us. They inspire us, guide us, and often shape the very passions we carry into adulthood. For me, my love of growing and creating started with my mom.

The house I grew up in was purchased from the local florist, so our yard was already filled with beautiful perennials. My mom taught me the names of every plant and how to care for them. To this date my mom has expanded this same beautiful garden, into something really stunning.  Growing up we grew only a handful of annuals, tucked in strategically for full season color - and rarely anything from seed; so this world of constant blooms is new for both of us—and I’ll be the first to say it’s so much more work than I imagined. But one season of blooms makes it all worth it.

When I look at my mom, I don’t just see her—I see my grandmother too. They share the same positivity, the same energy, the same way of making a space feel warm and welcoming. So many days, I wish my grandmother could be here to see what we are creating. I like to think she’s here in spirit, smiling at the sight of flowers blooming on this land she also loved.

Hosting a “Mother-Daughter” happy hour in the flower patch felt like a full-circle moment. Sharing this space with my dear mother is a blessing, but watching other mothers and daughters together was equally special. Each mom seemed to soak in the moment—fully present—aware of just how quickly these days pass and how precious it is to pause together.

To our mothers—thank you for your love, your example, and the seeds you’ve planted in us, both in the garden and in life. 🌸
