A New Generation at Century Oaks: Baby Cranes!

A New Generation at Century Oaks: Baby Cranes!

Spring has officially arrived—and it brought the sweetest miracle with it!

For the past month, we’ve been carefully watching our cranes who built their nest tucked just a bit closer to the driveway this year, allowing us to keep a gentle eye on them. Each day, as we drove in and out - we slowed and checked to make sure either momma or daddy crane was nestled in, keeping the eggs safe and perfectly warm.

This morning, we noticed both adult cranes foraging along the edge of Lake Veronica. Curious, I zoomed in with my camera—and there they were! There, two tiny reddish-brown puff balls were bouncing around at their parents’ feet. Our Baby cranes have arrived! Also known as calves, these little ones already seem eager to explore the world.

While we don’t know their genders, we’ve lovingly named them Clover and Thistle. What an exciting day here at Century Oaks, we can’t wait to watch them grow, stretch those long legs, and eventually learn to fly.

Welcome to the world, little ones—spring is officially in full swing! And that means… we’ve got a lot of work to do!
